We’re a Credit Union – That means we’re Not for Profit
Your Community Credit Union is a member-owned financial cooperative designed to help members help themselves financially. Every credit union member is also a credit union “owner.” Unlike a bank, there are no outside stockholders that receive “profits.” Credit unions return their “profits” to their members in the form of better rates and lower fees. So we put more money back in your pockets!

Discover the benefits of becoming a member of Your Community Credit Union!
Every year, low-income families try to buy vehicles to get to work or for use in conducting essential family business. Many are unable to do so because of debt or credit challenges resulting in high finance rates. If you add in the high cost of a reliable car, many families with limited incomes find car ownership to be out of reach.
Responsible Rides has the solution!
Your Community Credit Union, Freedom First Credit Union, Freedom First Insurance, and Enterprise Car Sales have collaborated with Lynchburg Community Action Group,Total Action Against Poverty and New River Community Action in the adminstration of Responsible Rides, a car purchase program for low-income families in the local community.
Cars are selected for reliability, mileage, and affordability from the Enterprise Car Sales fleet, with the financing from Central Virginia FCU in Lynchburg and Freedom First FCU in Roanoke and the New River Valley. The benefits include a No-haggle pricing policy, 109 point inspection certified vehicle, and a 12/12 limited powertrain warranty and 12 month roadside assistance.
Responsible Rides is available to those living in Lynchburg, Roanoke or the New River Valley whose household income is at or below 300 percent of the poverty level. Other requirements in the program include successful completion of three hours of free financial education and attendance of a two-hour vehicle maintenance class.

The Bee Branch at Brookville High School
As part of our financial literacy mission, CVFCU established a student run credit union in Brookville High School in 2005. The objective of this joint venture with Campbell County Schools has been to provide students with a practical way to learn about money. Students are also encouraged to get in the habit of SAVING money!
In addition to educational materials, the credit union sponsors “Lunch & Learn” sessions throughout the year on a wide range of Financial Education topics. Students employed to work in student branch also work part time hours in our other branch locations. The Bee Branch is open for students during lunches to make deposits or withdrawals of only $20 or less.
